I believe people on the outside can’t comprehend the importance of books in prison. For me, there are two types of books: the first one is for self-improvement, learning about yourself and others and understanding skills and what piques your interest. The second type of books is the one that takes you far from prison, to new wonderful places to meet new and exciting people.
Books can also act like a surrogate to the relationships we are missing in our lives. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time out of your day to send me and other inmates books. You can’t imagine how nice it is to receive books from you. It is so nice to know that people care.
