Books We Cannot Use
Because of limited storage space and increasingly strict prison regulations, we cannot accept the following types of books. To make sure we can accept your donation, we strongly encourage you to email or call us before bringing or mailing your books to Quincy.
- Encyclopedias and similar hard-cover book sets
- Legal journals (legal dictionaries and consumer-level criminal law material is welcome)
- Magazines (except for magazines that depict a trade such as "This Old House")
- Academic journals
- Textbooks printed before 2000
- Books printed before 1970
- Books with writing/notes in the margins (light highlighting is OK)
- Books with spiral or comb bindings (metal or plastic)
- Books that have stickers that cannot be removed
- Books in poor condition (missing pages, torn/missing covers, etc.)
